So, my predictions were spot on. It sucks when you get the short end of the stick and choose horrible dances and then the judges get on you instead of acknowledging how much the choreography sucked.
This is how we lost Chelsea T and Chris last night on So You Think You Can Dance. They both were very gracious and I wish them well.
The scariest/most disturbing part of the night was the Top 16 Mia Michael’s routine to a Charlotte Martin song. It was like that Rama Lama ding dong song last year or the year before. FREAKY but cool at the same time.
So another episode is over and its time to get rid of yet another boy and girl in the competition. I am finding some of the dances to be so lackluster this year. There is no doubt in my mind that these are some really talented dancers, but if I have to compare it to the previous seasons, I feel like they are not as exciting and/or engaging to watch. Especially the HipHop and the Disco routines which are normally full of energy and some fun moves, not so much this year.
My favorite of the night was Chelsea H and Mark dancing “lyrical” hip hop to BLEEDING LOVE by Leona Lewis. It was really good and told a story. It was like a Mia Michaels’ routine with a little more hard hitting moves. I love Chelsea, just not that one corn tooth. Oh, shoot me.
I think that Comfort and Chris, Chelsea and Thayne and….uh….Kortni and Matt will be in the bottom three couples. I hate that Comfort and Chelsea have been stuck with bad choreographies because I really like their personalities and want them to stay. I think the judges are especially hard on Chris this season and I’m not totally sure why. He isn’t any worse than some of the other guys. I also think that America won’t like Jessica just like they didn’t like Jessie a few seasons ago. Something about her attitude and look. We’ll see.
My ideal couple to go home tonight would be Kortni and Thayne, but I think it might be Chris and Chelsea.
Chelsea Hightower and Mark – BLEEDING LOVE – Lyrical Hip Hop
So our only Oscar award winning American Idol cast off, Jennifer Hudson, is on the heels of her debut CD release. I kinda hope she can stick it to American Idol again and do really well with this album. My only fear is that she might have too many wailing ballads or maybe make it a little too hip hop for her crowd.
Her first single off the CD is SPOTLIGHT, which was written by Ne-Yo who pretty much writes every Rihanna ballad hit. So this one, follows suit. I think that its a good effort and pretty damn catchy. I don’t know that it will catch on to radio. I think it should, but I also though Michelle Williams’ WE BREAK THE DAWN should have as well. So, what do I know about radio, really?
So, last night I was excited to watch WIPEOUT and I SURVIVED A JAPANESE GAME SHOW. I was very much underwhelmed with WIPEOUT, so much so that I am considering a petition to immediately cancel that garbage. BUT, I was more than pleased with ISAJGS (which is what I will refer to it from now on). It was an unexpected pleasure to watch.
I thought (before airing) that this would just be a bunch of clips of Americans playing Japanese game shows. Well, I was wrong. The show is a reality show of 10 or 12 Americans that are whisked away to Japan to live together and compete together (and against each other) in wacky Japanese game shows! So its like HELL’S KITCHEN with game shows instead of the cooking competitions.
So they live in this nice apartment and have a Mama San who likes to yell at them to go to bed or remove their shoes. Then they get taken to a studio for a “tour” but this “tour” ends up being the game show. Instantly split into teams, they are forced to compete in a treadmill/eating contest. One team member must run on a treadmill in place with a box of food on their head while the other team member eats the food out of the box. Pretty damn funny.
The winning team got awarded with a tour of Tokyo. The losing team got to give rickshaw (sp) tours of Tokyo. (Again, like Hell’s Kitchen) The losing team has to pick two members to compete to stay on the show and in Japan. They are pitted against each other in a bug splat competition where they have to run, jump on a trampoline and splat against a wall that is painted like a windshield. Oh, how fun. Sign me up please.
I will be watching all season. Please don’t cancel this one. Keep ISAJGS and get rid of WIPEOUT!
New show on ABC that had so much promise based on the commercials….sucked!
I think this show was so generic. The worst part about the show were the two hosts. They lacked any character. I think I could do the commentary better than they could. The events had the potential to be funny and the contestants as well. But they crammed a huge mess into an hour. I won’t be surprised if this nonsense gets canned.
The New Kids on the Block and their new song “Summertime” plus the video for it. Three sad things in one sentence. I guess if we didn’t recognize Joey and Jordan’s voices it could pass for an okay radio hit.
But my question to the whole thing is Why?
The video just elevates the fact that they are a bunch of has beens… trying to be relevant and young.
Her new album, IDENTIFIED, is streaming here and it sucks hard core.
Her new single “Sneaknight” is one of the dumbest songs I have heard in awhile. The press has written about her excitement to finally wear sneakers in a music video. Oh, cause she has done soooo many music videos in her recording career. Well, the song is about going out with her girls for some dancing, BUT they better bring their sneakers cause she don’t want no one passin’ out while dancing (probably to her own cd).
I think she should stick to leaking her nude pictures on the internet.
I know that most people must change out their cell phones pretty frequently like I do. I never really knew how to dispose of them properly besides trying to sell them on ebay. I recently discovered CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS after watching some news program.
A young brother and sister team got together and found a way to get money from recycling cell phones and with that money they send calling cards to the US troops overseas so that they all can call home. Apparently, the military does not provide free calling for the troops or, if they do, it is very limited.
If you have old cell phones (working or not), I encourage you to donate to this worthy cause. They even will pay for the shipping (of course, you can pay as well). The phones are just collecting dust anyway….
Well, apparently our 6th season runner-up Blake Lewis has been dropped from Arista Records label. This isn’t too surprising considering they rushed his first release and he wasn’t able to truly do what he wanted to do with it. Whenever I saw him in interviews or performances, he seemed less than excited to talk about the album and maybe a little sick of the whole “industry” scene.
Best wishes to Blake. I think the independent route is best. Maybe a little producing or mixing for him? Who knows, but the kid definitely has talent.
