It just that on Idol, he doesn’t seem to fit. I believe that his voice just might fit Broadway though. Maybe he will take that path again when he comes in second (or wins, whatever). Ha

I saw Tyrone perform this live a few weeks ago. Nothing short of awesome!
So, the latest season of Celebrity Apprentice has again piqued my strong love for some TLC. Not tender-loving care or the learning channel, but the R&B group.

What is your favorite TLC song? I think I will go with an obscure one…even though it doesn’t have Lisa singing in it.
For years, I have been quietly ‘in-like’ with Maria Mena. If you have paid attention to my musical taste, you might be confused as to why I enjoy her and have this quiet affinity for. Her voice is somehow soothing, although far from perfect. I cannot seem to get enough of her.
I was listening to her latest album and this song came on. Did a little youtube search. And decided to do a little posty-post.
What do you think of Maria Mena?
So, as some of you may recall (probably not), I wrote a pretty strong and praising review of Gavin’s last album, GAVIN DEGRAW. Looking back, I might have been a little bit excited about it and that MIGHT have clouded my judgement a little bit. But that is neither here nor there. I liked it then and I like it now. I do think that waiting 5 years between albums though might have been a bit too much.
Gavin changed his mind this time and put out an album in a year or so. He decided to go back to the foundation of his music and avoid the overly processed sound he felt he had on the last album. He wanted it to be organic and raw. I think he achieved this, but I think it might be too raw, too contrived. Is there such a thing as Gavin Degraw over-singing his own songs? In my opinion, this is exactly what he does on some of the tracks of his new album, FREE.
Don’t get me wrong though. I enjoy the album and I enjoy the concept. I will definitely keep it in rotation, but I can’t help but want for more. Maybe he will take the Josh Kelley route and put out an album every time he has enough songs. I like that idea.
On another positive note, I’m thrilled that he finally recorded a version of “Dancing Shoes.” Way to go Gavin. Oh, and apparently I got some autographed poster with my purchase. I guess I forgot about this and ripped into the package prematurely. Yes, I ripped the poster. HA
Keep on keeping on.

What are your thoughts?
So, I was checking through some older CDs last night and came across STEFY’s “The Orange Album.” Also known as, “the only album.” I thought they showed alot of pop-ish promise at the time that they came out. Unfortunately, we didn’t hear much from them after a single or two.
So, if you know what happened to the band, let me know. Until then, listen/watch “Orange County” by Stefy.
Well, the moment we all have been waiting for came last night. And by waiting, I only mean a few weeks. I was intrigued by the concept of the show, particularly that it has a set beginning and a set end. And, we are promised that there is some sort of “answer” at the end. HARPER’S ISLAND started last night on CBS and will run for 13 weeks until July 2nd.
Apparently this was cast a long time ago and things were set into motion, but it was stopped and never completed. So, they recast the show and apparently re-tooled it a bit. Now we have it in all it’s glory.
It’s about a group of people (25) who are gathering on this island for a week long wedding celebration. Apparently there were some murders years ago on the island and some of the invited were there to witness them. We are promised that people will die each week and we won’t figure out the killer until the end. Last night they held their promise and killed off two of the characters. In fact, one of the guys fell through a little bridge walkway and the killer cut his body from the waist down…OFF!
I am enticed.
Oh, and Henry from Ugly Betty… plays Henry on Harper’s Island. I thought that was kind of amusing. Stay tuned to HARPER’S ISLAND for more slayings!!
